The Motor Shoppe is locally owned and operated by the Prior Family.
Steve and Janelle started The Motor Shoppe in 1995.
Steve has been a Motor Mechanic since March 1986, completing his Trade certificate, with Honours, at Butlers Toyota, Toowoomba. Following a long career at Butlers he then went to another local Toowoomba mechanical garage before making the huge decision to try to make a go of his own workshop.
THE MOTOR SHOPPE was born in 1995 in humble beginnings in a shed behind Sarquis Bros Used Cars, Ruthven Street.
Steve and Janelle were then blessed with the arrival of their first child, Morgan Maree in 1996 followed by Cooper George in 1998. Busy, busy years as they tried so hard to build their business up and raise their beautiful babies.
It was around this time a young boy, straight from school started work experience. This young man showed a keen and talented interest in motor mechanics. Steve wanted to give this kid a start to his career, that he too was lucky to have received. This young kid has grown into a fine young man. Yes, James is still with us to this day and is major credit to our business. James is a qualified Mechanic with over 10 years experience.
As The Motor Shoppe grew with the support from wonderful customers, Garth started as a school- based work experience lad. He too had a passion for mechanics and again Steve & James took him under their wing. Garth has moved on and changed careers.
2010 we employeed our new school based apprentice Zac McErlean. Zac is doing a great job and we know he is going to be a fine Motor Mechanic.
Steve believes in helping out so many young kids, that not too much time passes without some form of work experience happening. We support all local Toowoomba Schools and are happy to help young people experience a career in Motor Mechaincs.
Not too much has changed in 14 years with our business. Steve's hair has greyed more; Janelle is now in the office while kids are at school; James is in his late twenties and a father to a newborn boy, Jamie.
Today we still have humble premises at 238 North Street, Toowoomba and still the same honest reliable staff.
We couldn't be happier with our home and work families.
